Órlaithí Flynn was speaking after quizzing Department of Health officials on the recently published strategy.
Órlaithí Flynn said:
"Following the publication of the Suicide prevention strategy - Protect Life 2 - the focus is now on implementation and funding.
"The need to ensure adequate and sustained funding to match the strategy was the clear focus from today's All-Party Group meeting.
"Suicide is not just an issue for the Department of Health. It is a societal problem that will need all the departments and agencies to coordinate their actions.
"We know that suicide is preventable and we know the devastation it has within communities.
"We must ensure that the strategy is now fully implemented.
"I commend the International Association of Suicide Prevention for their work and wish them the best for their 30th World Congress Conference in Derry this week."
