Sheehan welcomes £26.76 million investment for GP services
Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has welcomed the announcement from the Department of Health of a £26.76 million investment for GP services in the north for 2019/20.
The party’s health spokesperson said:
“Today’s announcement of £26.76 million investment in GP services for the north is a welcome but overdue recognition of the importance of frontline services.
“This investment will help to ease the workload of GPs and enables patients to have access to a broader range of health professionals who are best suited to addressing their needs.
"Supporting primary care with significant investment was a key action of Michelle O'Neill’s Delivering Together plan. The further roll out of multi-disciplinary teams is to be welcomed.
“With the ongoing threat of Brexit and Tory austerity this funding will help make a difference to GPs, for primary care and for patients across the north.”
