Sinn Féin Councillor Oliver McMullan has said DUP has disregarded the deep concern held by the farming community about the impact of a hard Brexit on their livelihoods and communities.
The Sinn Fein candidate for East Antrim said:
“I have been in close contact with farmers across East Antrim on an ongoing basis throughout the whole Brexit process.
“Widespread concern persists among the farming community over the DUP pursuit of a hard Brexit and the catastrophic impact that would have on the sector in this constituency and across the island.
“The reckless Brexit policy of the Tories and the DUP put farmer’s livelihoods at risk, including many whose families have farmed the land for generations.
“Sinn Féin is committed to defending Ireland from Brexit, including protecting against a hard border which would devastate the agricultural sector.
“Sinn Féin has delivered on our commitments against Brexit by using our influence where it matters.
“On the 12th December vote Sinn Féin in East Antrim and we will continue to fight to protect farmers against a hard DUP Brexit.”
