Martin Kenny expresses sympathy at the death of Norah Gibbons

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Justice and Equality Martin Kenny TD has expressed his sympathy with the family and friends of the late Norah Gibbons, whose death was announced this morning.

He said:

“Norah Gibbons was an invaluable asset to this nation; having used her considerable skill, knowledge and commitment to better the lives of children and to bring past injustices to the light.

“Her work as Tusla Chairperson, as Director of Advocacy for Barnardos, as a member of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse – which investigated the extent and effects of abuse on children in Ireland, as a member of the Historical Abuse Inquiry in the north, and leading research on familicide and the supports available for families affected, has left an invaluable legacy.

“I send my deepest sympathy to her loved ones at this sad time.”
