O’Dowd condemns Lurgan disturbances

Sinn Féin MLA John O’Dowd has condemned those responsible for a hoax bomb and disturbances in Lurgan over the weekend.

The Upper Bann MLA said:

“Those involved in orchestrating and participating in trouble in Lurgan over the course of the weekend have absolutely nothing to offer our community or society as a whole.

“Their actions only serve to hinder the quality of life of local residents and diminish our community’s image.

“Some residents were evacuated from their homes as a result of the hoax bomb and the burning of a hijacked van on the railway has caused disruption to public transport.

“The question must be asked, exactly what purpose do these actions serve other than to harm our community?

“Those involved in these disturbances are void of logic, support and strategic vision.

“They must get off the backs of the local community and allow residents to live in peace.”
