Sinn Féin motion on British Government breaking international law to be debated

A Sinn Féin motion on the consequences of the British Government breaking international law will be debated by the Assembly on the 5th of October.

Upper Bann MLA John O’Dowd said:

“In recent weeks, the British Government has shown complete disdain for international law and contempt for the people of this island.

“The British Government, through its Internal Market Bill, are reneging on the Withdrawal Agreement which it signed up less than one year ago and undermining the Good Friday Agreement.

“The consequences for our Island as a result of the British Government abandoning its obligations under International law will be drastic.

“While there is no good to come from Brexit in any form, a no-deal Brexit will have a devastating impact for workers, families and communities.

“The British Government cannot walk away from its obligations and throw our future to the wind.

“The Withdrawal Agreement, which the British Government and Westminster agreed, must be fully implemented.

“The people of this island have had enough of the uncertainty created by a chaotic British Government.”
