Sheehan welcomes statutory inquiry into neurology scandal

Reacting to news that the Minister of Health has converted the Independent Neurology Inquiry into a Statutory Inquiry, Pat Sheehan MLA said:

“I welcome the news that the Minister has finally decided to establish a Statutory Neurology Inquiry.

“This is a great result for the patients and their families who have suffered grievous trauma as a result of misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment and continue to wait to know the truth why this happened.

“All patients, including the neurology patients, are entitled to expect accountability and transparency and everyone implicated in the failure of care of these patients must be held to account.

“A statutory inquiry is necessary to ensure the power to compel all evidence from those involved in what is the largest ever recall of patients in the north.”
