Sinn Féin MLA John O’Dowd has said questions remain over the decision to remove workers from the Port of Larne following reports of threats.
John O’Dowd said;
“Serious questions remain over the decision by Mid and East Antrim Council to remove workers from the Port of Larne based on reports of threats.
“There is no place in society for threats against workers and everyone should be able to go about their work free from fear or intimidation.
“The safe return of all workers to the port should be a priority.
“Mid and East Antrim Council need to clarify what information it was operating from and basing its decisions on if it was not the information given to it by the PSNI.
“The Agriculture minister also needs to urgently clarify his position and why his department’s workers are not back at work. If he has any differing assessment from the one given by the PSNI then he needs to explain that.”
