Sinn Féin MPs meet InvestNI on protocol
Sinn Féin MPs today met with InvestNI to discuss the challenges facing businesses during the pandemic and Brexit.
Mid-Ulster MP Francie Molloy said:
“This morning, the Sinn Féin MP team held a positive and constructive meeting with InvestNI with the focus being on creating jobs, supporting businesses and protecting workers through the pandemic and Brexit.
“The special status of the North in having unfettered access to the EU single market must be actively promoted by InvestNI to attract businesses, create jobs and to grow our economy.
“The unique status of the North will also ensure continued access for local farmers, growers and producers to a prospering and wide reaching European market as well as increasing the local market.
“While there are some outstanding issues to be resolved with the Irish Protocol, it gives vital protections to businesses.
“There is real potential for our all-island economy to flourish in the time ahead and we must seize this opportunity for the betterment of citizens and communities.
“We now need to see an end to political parties resorting to hysterics for their own narrow political interests.
“All political parties must instead place their energy into implementing the Protocol, and providing maximum support and certainty for businesses.
"In particular, we need to see the Economy Minister using the unique situation created by the protocol to attract jobs and investment to the north.
“Sinn Féin will continue to work with business leaders and the business community through this turbulent period to provide maximum support.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
