Begley calls for increase provision of medicinal cannabis

Sinn Féin MP Órfhlaith Begley has called for the NHS to increase medicinal cannabis provision.

The West Tyrone MP said:

“Confirmation by the NHS that just three cannabis prescriptions have been issued to patients since being made legal in 2018 is concerning.

“Medicinal cannabis has the potential to truly transform the lives of patients and the NHS must urgently take steps to review the criteria for the prescription of cannabis to allow increased access to those who need it.

“Families should not have to pay thousands of pounds a month to access this transformative treatment.

“Sinn Féin will continue to support the use of medicinal cannabis where it is medically recommended.”
