Crowe welcomes survival of jobs at Jacobs plant

3 March, 2006

Tallaght based Sinn Féin TD Seán Crowe has welcomed the survival of between 400 and 500 jobs at the Jacobs Fruitfield Plant in Tallaght. Workers at the plant today voted overwhelmingly in support of the survival package put forward by management.

Deputy Crowe said, "This is a welcome sigh of relief and is great news not just for the workforce and their families but also for the local community and for the local economy. Wages from this plant contribute €22million annually to the local economy.

"Both the workers and the union representatives have shown leadership and the overwhelming result of the vote shows the commitment of the workers to the company and to the sustainability of their jobs." ENDS
