Advance Stardust Inquest Jury Bill ‘welcome’ – Senator Lynn Boylan

Sinn Féin Senator Lynn Boylan has welcomed the passage of the Stardust Inquest Jury Bill through the Seanad, but has called upon the Government to ensure it is progressed through both Houses before the inquest begins.

The bill was introduced and debated during the Sinn Féin Private Members’ Time yesterday evening.

Senator Boylan said:

“I am delighted that the Bill has passed through the Seanad this evening.

“The Bill seeks to ensure that the Stardust Inquest will be held before a jury, and that the jury will be selected in a transparent manner.

“I welcome that the Government didn’t oppose the Bill, but I am asking that they will work with us to ensure that this Bill completes its passage through both Houses before the inquest begins.

“It’s essential for the families and victims that this inquest can move forward in a transparent manner.”
