Sinn Féin - On Your Side

28 April, 2006

Sinn Féin will launch "Healthcare in an Ireland of Equals", the party's All-Ireland health policy document on Wednesday, May 3rd 2006.

The launch will take place in Buswell's Hotel, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2 at 1pm.

Attending the launch will be Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams MP, the party's spokesperson on Health, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD, Dublin MEP Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Féin councillors Padraig MacLochlainn and Jonathon O'Brien.

Speaking in advance the Sinn Féin spokesperson on Health and Children in the Dáil, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD said, "Sinn Féin wants to create a democratically accountable national health service that is responsive to the diverse health needs of the population as a whole.

"Our vision is of a seamless all-Ireland health service based on universal public provision - one that provides full equality of access, and that is free at the point of delivery as of right.

"The document we are launching on Wednesday is a renewed call to action for equality in health and in healthcare.

"We recognise that the realisation of this vision requires a genuine partnership and shared ownership with health service workers and service users to enact real change. We are up for the challenge that involves and would welcome and indeed encourage others to join with us." ENDS
