Fine Gael hypocrisy tops the poll --Doolan
Sinn Féin's Dublin South East Representative, Councillor Daithí Doolan, has today slammed, "Fine Gael hypocrisy in breaking the postering ban in Dublin."
Speaking today, Cllr. Doolan said, "We have the ridiculous situation where, with out ever seeking permission required by City Council, Fine Gael have postered the city with election style posters advertising public meetings on 'Crime in the Community'. It has been confirmed to me by City Council officials that the posters had to be removed and Fine Gael now face fines under the littering act.
"Unlike Fine Gael I support the right of political parties, community groups and campaign groups to organise and poster to highlight their public events. In fact Sinn Fein have continuously called for the lifting of the City Council's ban on postering. But what I do not support is Fine Gael's gross hypocrisy on the issue. They have failed to support any motion calling for lifting of the postering ban; in fact they have out rightly opposed every effort to overturn this byelaw. Yet when it appears to suit them they totally flout the law and order they claim to support."
In conclusion Cllr. Doolan called on Fine Gael to end the hypocrisy and, "to come clean on the issue and to openly support the lifting of the anti democratic postering ban in Dublin City." ENDS
