Kilcredan National School transport to be raised in Dail
Councillor Gina Hennessy welcomed the questions put in the Dail about the removal of buses from children going to Kilcredan national school by Sinn Féin TD Sean Crowe.
Gina Hennessy said: "There has been a remarkable silence from the Department of Education on the issue of the removal of buses from Kilcredan National School in East Cork. This is a major issue in the area and parents are very angry."
"Sean Crowe, who is the Sinn Féin spokesperson on education, will this morning raise the issue directly with the Minister in the form of standing orders and written questions. Its time the Minister became involved."
"The removal of nearly 50 children from the school bus run has caused anger in the area and chaos at the school gate. The Minister for Education must intervene and insure that children are able to get safe transport to school."
"I am aware that this is an issue that is also arising in other parts of the country. The Minister must tackle the issue now and provide the funding for more buses. The provision of basic safety standards on school buses should not be used to deprive other children of safe and efficient to school." ENDS
