Hunger Strike Commemoration events on Saturday 6th May

The National 1981 Commemoration Committee will today (Saturday 6th May) hold a series of events to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1981 Hunger Strikes:   1pm Balmoral Hotel - 'Talkback' will focus on the legacy of the Hunger Strikes. Panelists will include John Finucane, Chris McGimpsey, Toireasa Ní Fhearaiosa and Alan McBride.   4 pm GAA pitches of St Pauls, Sarsfields and Rossa - Finals of the underage GAA blitz   5.30pm - Lenadoon Avenue - Julie Livingstone memorial, junction of Lenadoon Avenue/Stewartstown Road. Wreath laying ceremony, rally and march to to Roddy McCorley's Social Club   6.30pm - Roddy McCorley's Social Club. Family and friends of the Hunger Strikers to lay wreaths in club grounds dedicated to the 12 Hunger Strikers, followed by an oration by Gerry Adams MP.   8.00 pm - Andersonstown Social Club (PD). Republican activists from the 1980/81 period talk about their experiences. ENDS
