Sinn Féin reiterates call for CIA and US Military flights to be refused use of Irish airports and airspace

13 June, 2006

Sinn Féin International Affairs and Human Rights spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has called for all planes associated with the CIA or US military to be refused the use of Irish airports and airspace.

Speaking today Deputy Ó Snodaigh said, "In light of the increasing number of reports and incidents, including today's revelation that the US military illegally transported a prisoner through Shannon Airport on Sunday last, demonstrating that the United States is a law onto itself when it comes to human rights violations the Government should, as Sinn Féin have previously called for, refuse the use of Irish airports and airspace to all planes associated with the CIA or US military."
