Sinn Féin President launches Recruitment Campaign billboards
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams was joined by local MLA Gerry Kelly and Louth TD Arthur Morgan for the launch of a billboard campaign urging people to join the party in North Belfast this morning. The billboards are the first stage in a major recruitment drive being undertaken by Sinn Féin in the coming months.
Speaking at the launch Gerry Adams said:
"Over the past 12 months we have witnessed the historic decision by the IRA to end the armed campaign. This decision coupled with advances in the political process over recent years places an onus upon Sinn Féin to be the driving force behind delivering Irish unity and independence.
"Despite Sinn Féin making major electoral advances in recent years across the island we know that we are yet not big enough to deliver on the massive potential which undoubtedly exists across the island. This recruitment campaign is about making Sinn Féin even bigger, it is about opening our membership to more women, to those from ethnic minority groups and to even more young activists.
"Sinn Féin is a political party that is not content to stand still. We are always exploring different avenues to build and expand the campaign for Irish independence. Over the coming months we will be bring this recruitment campaign across the island. We are determined to build Sinn Féin into a truly national party with even more elected representatives in every part of this island delivering real social, political and constitutional change. That is what this campaign is all about." ENDS
