O'Toole to contact the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and Department of Enterprise over job losses in Clonshaugh
Sinn Féin Councillor Larry O'Toole is to contact the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and the Department of Enterprise following the closure of Jabil Global Services in Clonshaugh in recent days. Councillor O'Toole said "Clonshaugh was once a thriving industrial estate but recent years have seen the closure of several high tech businesses and not enough has been done to bring replacement industries into the northside. I intend to raise this issue with the Department of Enterprise, the IDA and Enterprise Ireland."
Councillor O‚Toole said:
"Clonshaugh was once a thriving industrial estate with high tech businesses but over the last few years we have seen the closure of Gateway 2000, Data Products, Terradata and Saronix. Despite such serious job losses, replacement industries have not being brought into the northside. Instead we have seen high tech companies being set up in Citywest and the National Digital Park off the M50. It is clear that there is no long term plan for the northside.
"I am going to contact the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and the Department of Enterprise to discuss with them their long terms plans for Clonshaugh Industrial Estate, what they are doing to bring in new jobs and to re-skill the workforce." ENDS
