Sinn Féin review of Hain Assembly to begin in Dundalk tomorrow morning
Sinn Féin Chief Negotiator Martin McGuinness MP will be available to speak to the media at 10am in the Foyer in Stormont tomorrow, Wednesday 28th June. Mr. McGuinness will then travel to Dundalk where he and Gerry Adams will hold a day-long meeting of the party's Officer Board and the party‚s negotiations committee to begin the process of reviewing Sinn Féin‚s position regarding the Hain Assembly.
Speaking in advance of the meetings Mr. McGuinness said:
"The six week sitting of the Hain Assembly is coming to an end and the fact is that no progress has been made - something that is largely the responsibility of the two governments. As we said we would do at the beginning of this current phase, Sinn Féin is going to review our position regarding the Hain Assembly. We are more than willing to be involved in any genuine effort to restore the political institutions but we will not participate in a farce that is driving the political process into deeper crisis and making the public increasingly cynical. The review will begin tomorrow morning (Wednesday 28th) and conclude at the end of the summer.
On Thursday a senior Sinn Féin delegation will meet with Tony Blair and Bertie Ahern at Parliament Buildings." ENDS
