Gerry Adams to meet TDs at South Armagh gathering

29 June, 2006

Sinn Féin TDs and support staff from Leinster House will meet tomorrow in the heart of South Armagh. During a day long series of meetings the Leinster House team will be briefed by party President Gerry Adams and Newry & Armagh MP Conor Murphy.

The meeting will take place in the Tí Chuliann Centre in Mullaghban, South Armagh and will form part of the ongoing review being conducted by the party into future participation in the Hain Assembly.

Gerry Adams will be available to speak to the media at 11am.

Speaking in advance of the meeting Sinn Féin group leader in Leinster House Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said:

"Tomorrow the Sinn Féin TDs and support staff from Leinster House will meet in South Armagh to review progress made over the past 12 months and formulate our approach to the coming year. This is the first time this gathering will have taken place in the six counties.

"The day long series of meetings will include discussions on policy, campaigns and electoral preparation in advance of the expected 26 county election next spring.

"The meeting will also provide an opportunity for the Leinster House team to be updated on today's meetings in Stormont with the Taoiseach and British Prime Minister and will mark the next stage of the review process initiated by the party to examine our approach to the Hain Assembly." ENDS
