Press launch of National Hunger Strike Rally

26 July, 2006

The National H-Block/Armagh 25th Anniversary Committee will hold a press launch tomorrow morning, Thursday 26th July at 11am in the Roddy McCorley Club on the Glen Road, to give details of a march a rally planned for Casement Park in Belfast on 13th August.

Amongst those attending will be the families of some of those who died, former Hunger Striker Pat Sheehan, former Long Kesh O/C Brendan ‚Bik‚ McFarlane and other members of the National H-Block/Armagh Committee.

Speaking today Brendan McFarlane said:

"Tomorrows launch will provide details of our plans to hold a 25th Anniversary march and rally on August 13th to Casement Park in Belfast.

"We will be inviting people from across Ireland and beyond to come to Belfast for the rally and given the massive turn outs all year at local events I expect a large turnout on the day.

"The August Rally will be the biggest of the commemorative events to have taken place this year and will provide an opportunity for republicans to come together to remember the sacrifices of 1981, pay tribute to those who died and demonstrate that our struggle is advancing, growing and that we remain determined to succeed."
