Action must be taken against corrupt politicians in Carrickmines case
Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has called for action to be taken against any politicians who were involved in the corrupt rezoning of lands at Carrickmines. Deputy Ó Snodaigh was speaking today after lands at Carrickmines were frozen due to claims that property value increases of €53 million stemmed from corrupt conduct including the bribing of local politicians.
He said, "If these allegations are found to be true then Jackson Way Properties should face the full rigour of the law and be stripped of any profits obtained through its corrupt activities, including any money made from the compulsory purchase order made on the land that was used for the M50 motorway.
"However, it is not just Jackson Way Properties who must face the full rigour of the law. They did not re-zone their lands single-handedly. They had the help of corrupt politicians and they must also face the consequences of their actions.
"Corruption is an all too familiar issue in Irish politics of the past couple of decade. It is for this reason that severe action must be taken against any politician who engages in corrupt activities for personal gain including those politicians who accepted bribes from Frank Dunlop on behalf of Jackson Way Properties."
