Israel's massacre in Lebanon and Palestine are the actions of a rogue state
Speaking following media reports of the deaths of 27 farm
workers on the Lebanese - Syrian border yesterday at the hands of Israeli
forces, Sinn Féin Vice President Pat Doherty demanded an immediate halt to
attacks by the Israeli regime.
Mr.
Doherty said: "The last three weeks have seen such a steady flow of images
and reports from Lebanon of the devastation caused by Israel's attacks that
one's sense of outrage is almost deadened through overuse. The
latest
attack involved Israeli aircraft firing three missiles into a crowd of farm
workers loading fruit onto trucks. We are to believe that this is being done
to defend Israel. We are told the Israeli military is doing all that it can
to prevent the deaths of civilians.
"But the report published yesterday by Human Righhts Watch exposes that claim to be nothing more than one more lie in the dishonest version of reality concocted by Israeli propagandists. As Kenneth Roth, Executive Director of Human Rights Watch put it, 'The pattern of attacks shows the Israeli military’s disturbing disregard for the lives of Lebanese civilians', The report goes on to accuse Israeli forces of systematically failing to distinguish between combatants and civilians.
"This violence, the slaughter of innocent Lebanese civilians could end in a moment with a word from the White House to its Israeli surrogate in the Middle East but we know one will not be forthcoming. Consequently, it is incumbent on the Irish government, and Irish citizens to support the boycott of Israeli goods, to suspend the EU - Israel Trade Agreement and for the nations of the world to hold Israel to account."
