Sinn Féin call for improvements to child and adolescent mental health services
Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson, John O'Dowd has said that the case for
improving child and adolescent mental health services has already been made
and accepted and backed the call for immediate improvements.
Mr
O'Dowd said:
"The case for improving child and adolescent mental
health services has already been made and accepted. It is now time to see in
action plan put in place that can address the deficits and begin to make
immediate improvements.
"The bottom line is that we need to see
dedicated resources that can upgrade facilities, help with staff recruitment
and crucially, to expand the range and quality of services delivered.
"The fact is that despite mountains of evidence highlighting the need for
improvement that we have not seen the required resources or the necessary
improvements.
"When the 4th Bamford report was published in May
of this year Sinn Féin said that the promotion of mental well being
must be a priority. Professor Bamford himself also made the point that if
extra money was not made available then nothing will change." ENDS
