Crowe congratulates workers and management of Aer Lingus on profits
Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Transport Seán Crowe has congratulated the workers and management of Aer Lingus for their tremendous accomplishment on delivering an operating profit of €14.3 million for the first half of 2003.
The Dublin South-West TD said:
"This is an excellent result for the company and underlines its success in recovering from the difficulties experienced by all airlines in the aftermath of September 11th. It shows that State owned companies can be successful and innovative in their approach. There can be no case for the privatisation or sell-off of such an important, and profitable, State company.
"These results will hopefully encourage the company to come to terms with cabin crew workers on pay and prevent the suggested privatisation of Aer Lingus' catering section. It is the workers of Aer Lingus who are responsible for these results and it is only just that they reap the benefits." ENDS
