Sinn Féin to use additional facilities to prepare for return of institutions

4 December, 2006

Sinn Féin Assembly group leader John O'Dowd this evening confirmed that his party would be accepting the additional resources being offered to the parties who will form the incoming executive for the business of putting together a programme for government.

Mr O'Dowd said:

"I can confirm that we will accept the additional resources being offered to the parties who will form the incoming executive for the business of putting together a programme for government. This is vital work and much time has already been lost.

"The suspension of the political institutions by the British government has deprived the community and the constituents who support our party of the accountable government they voted for. These additional resources will go a small way to undoing some of that damage as we set about the work of seeing fully functioning power sharing and all-Ireland institutions back in place in line with the timetable set out at St. Andrews."
