Sinn Féin to host public meeting on speeding and dangerous driving in Sallynoggin
Dún Laoghaire Sinn Féin are hosting a public meeting tonight for Sallynoggin residents who are concerned about speeding, dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour in the area. The meeting takes place at the Holy Child Comprehensive School in Sallynoggin at 8pm this evening. It will be chaired by Dún Laoghaire Sinn Féin representative Eoin O'Broin and addressed by Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Larry O' Toole who is currently the vice-chair of the Dublin City Council Joint Policing Committee.
Speaking before the meeting Mr. O‚Broin said, „So called Œboy-racing‚, speeding and dangerous driving continue to be problems in the area and pose a threat to our community and quality of life. It is time we acted together to confront the causes of these problems. Sinn Féin believes political parties, local communities and community and statutory agencies must act together.
"In response to a parliamentary question tabled by Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh the PD Minister for Justice Michael McDowell stated that local Garda management are unaware of any problem with car crime and associated anti-social behaviour in Sallynoggin. But complaints to us from this specific area paint a different picture.
"Therefore we are holding a public meeting on the issue tonight. We hope the outcome of the meeting will include a united community demand for action from the local Gardaí and a demand for traffic calming measures from the local council." ENDS
