Ferris calls for oral hearing into Bellanaboy license
The Sinn Féin spokesperson on Natural Resources, Martin Ferris TD, has called for a public oral hearing into license granted by the Environmental Protection Agency to Shell to proceed with it's development of the gas refinery at Bellanaboy, County Mayo. The EPA has attached 85 conditions to the license and allowed a 28 day consultation period during which requests for a hearing can be submitted.
Deputy Ferris said: "Given the history of this process it is vital that there is a full public oral hearing into all aspects of the granting of this license and Sinn Féin will be making that clear to the EPA. It is also important that all groups with an interest in this issue submit their views and that all aspects of the case, from an environmental and community safety aspect are fully examined."
