Crowe calls for more oral examiners

14 February, 2007

Sinn Féin Education spokesperson Seán Crowe TD today urged the Minister for Education and Science Mary Hanafin to resolve the current situation whereby there is a considerable lack of examiners for Leaving Cert oral examinations.

The Dublin South-West TD said: "This problem has not simply occurred overnight, but has been problem which has increased for the State Examinations Commission over recent years. I will be asking the Minister why this issue has not been addressed and what will happen to those students with no oral examiners to assess them.

"The Minister needs to improve and increase the recruitment of oral examiners immediately instead of allowing the same situation to occur next year."
