Adams welcomes launch of West Belfast and Greater Shankill Enterprise

13 March, 2007

Sinn Féin west Belfast MP Gerry Adams today attended the official launch of the West Belfast and Greater Shankill Enterprise Council.

The Enterprise Council was a key recommendation of the West Belfast Task Force report which was published 5 years ago.

Its purpose is to assist in implementing the recommendations of the Task Force in respect of local small business and especially in the promotion and support of these businesses.

Speaking at the launch Mr. Adams said:

"I want to commend all of those who are now members of the Enterprise Council. They have a crucial role in the development and regeneration of all of west Belfast.

The Enterprise Council is a key part of the implementation of the Task Force report for west Belfast. It will provide a unique opportunity to harness the economic potential of local businesses across this constituency, to develop
and promote that potential and to secure investment for the future.

It is a fundamental element in our efforts to create new jobs and regenerating this area." ENDS
