Ó Caoláin welcomes resumption of talks in nurse’s dispute
Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson and Dáil Leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD has welcomed news that face to face talks between the HSE and nursing unions are to resume in a bid to resolve the dispute over nurses pay and conditions.
Speaking today Deputy Ó Caoláin said, "Only last week Minister Harney was saying that she sees no possibility of talks resuming. These bullish comments were completely unhelpful. Dialogue is critical for both patients and hospital workers. The resumption of talks and the cancellation of work stoppages by the nurses is a very welcome development.
"I want to wish the nurses well in the talks and hope they lead to a thirty-five hour working week and better working conditions for our nurses who work at the frontline of our health services in very difficult circumstances." ENDS
