Tús curtha le camchuairt Sinn Féin ar ceantracha gaeltachta don olltoghchán

4 May, 2007

Tá tús curtha ag Bairbre de Brún FPE agus ag Sinn Féin le camchuairt thart ar na ceantracha gaeltachta roimh an olltoghchán ar 24ú Bealtaine. Is í Sinn Féin an t-aon pháirtí amháin ata ag eagrú camchuairt den chineál sin dírithe ar na ceantracha gaeltachta ach go háirithe.

Ag labhairt léi agus í amuigh ag stocaireacht dúirt an feisire Bairbre de Brún:
"Tá mé thar a bheith sásta camchuairt a dhéanamh thart ar na ceantrachta gaeltachta thar ceann Sinn Féin. Thaispeáin Sinn Féin ceannasaíocht láidir sna ceantracha sin agus in Údarás na Gaeltachta chomh maith.

"Sna seachtainí atá romhainn beidh mé ag tabhairt cuairt ar ceantracha gaeltachta i gCo na Midhe, i nDún na nGall, i nGailleamh, i gCiarraí agus i bPort Lairge. Beimid ag cur béim ar riachtanais na gceantair sin agus ag obair ar son na n-iarrthóirí de ard chaighdeán atá againn.

"Tugann Sinn Féin tús áite don Ghaeilge i gcónaí agus leanfaidh muid le sin sa rialtas. Thacaigh Sinn Ferin le stádas oifigiúil agus oibre don Ghaeilge san AE, agus le hAcht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla sa Dáil. Táimid ag tacú leis an fheachtas ar son Acht na Gaeilge sna sé Chondae faoi láthair fosta. Labhair Aengus ó Snodaigh níos mó Gaeilge sa Dáil ná aon TD eile i 2006.

"Beidh Sinn Féin ag láinseail forógra s'againn don Ghaeilge an tseachtain seo chugainn. Cuirfidh seo béim ar maoiniú don teanga agus ar an gá atá ann go ndéanfaidh an rialtas nua beart níos dáirire ar son na Gaeilge agus na Gaeltachta araon.." Deireadh.

Sinn Féin begins election leadership tour of Gaeltacht areas

Bairbre de Brún and Sinn Féín have begun their Gaeltacht leadership tour in advance of the general election on 24th May. Sinn Féin is the only party who will be having such a dedicated Gaeltacht campaign.

Speaking on the hustings Bairbre de Brún commented, "I am pleased to be visiting the Gaeltacht areas on behalf of Sinn Féin. Our party has provided strong leadership in these regions and in the Údáras."

"Over the next few weeks, I shall be visiting Meath, Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Kerry and Waterford and shall be focusing on the needs of the communities in these areas and also promoting our dedicated and able
candidates." said Ms de Brún

"Sinn Féin has always prioritized the Irish language and will continue to do so in government. We supported official and working stus for the language in the EU and the enactment of the 2003 Official Languages Act in the Dáil. We are also supporting the current Irish Language Act campaign in the six counties. Our TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh spoke more Irish in the Dáil than any other TD in 2006."

"We shall be launching our Irish language manifesto next week. This will focus on more funding for the language, and the need for a more serious approach to be adopted by the new government toward the Irish language and towards Gaeltacht communities."
