'Best of Luck' for West Belfast Irish language football team
Paul Maskey MLA, and Sinn Féin member of Culture, Arts and Leisure Committee has wished a new West Belfast Irish language football team the best of luck for upcoming 32-county tournament in Cork.
"This is the only group from outside the official Gaeltacht that is taking part. The team are very capable and this is a serious effort to exhibit the Belfast Irish language movement.
"The "laochra" are reminiscent a small group called na Piarsaigh in Cork which was founded with only four members, now Sean Óg Ó hAlpin's club, who became one of the best clubs in Ireland. I would like to
commend Jake Jackson et al for their forward thinking on this venture and I wish the team every success and I believe they are worthy ambassadors for the Gaeltacht Quarter and for the language." Ends
