Sinn Féin Education Minister confirms new Schools for Newry Armagh

Sinn Féin Newry Armagh MLA Mickey Brady has welcomed the confirmation from Education Minister Caitríona Ruane of the start dates and expected completion dates for the new schools buildings in Newry Armagh which have been allocated funding for major capital works.

Mr Brady said:

"This is welcome news. I must commend the tireless endeavours of all those involved in pursuing their vision of new schools for their communities. Soon that vision will become a reality for them and we can continue to deliver for our children the very best in both their educational and social development."

Newry and Mourne Councillor Anthony Flynn commenting on the news that work on a new school for Dromintee PS would start in February 2008 and for Forkhill PS January 2008 has said the news was a great boost for all the community.

The other schools which are listed with staring dates are St Clare's Abbey P.S. Newry Aug 2007. St Joseph's Convent P.S. Newry , June 2008 St Peter's P.S. Cloughreagh July 2007, St Patrick's G.S. Armagh April 2008 , St Catherine's College, Armagh Dec 2007 , Abbey Christian Brothers G.S. Newry Sept 2007 . St Colman's College, Newry which has already started will be completed in February 2009.
