“It is a tremendous honor to be here today in the heart of the Docklands of Dublin, appropriately steeped in naval history, to celebrate the achievements this great Irish man.
“Admiral Brown founded the Argentinean Navy and defended the Río de la Plata against foreign armadas which was an integral part of Argentina’s and South America’s pursuit for independence.
“As a republican I have huge respect and admiration for the political determination that drove Admiral Brown is his pursuit of national independence for the people of Argentina.
“I wish to commend the Admiral Brown Society for ensuring that the achievements of this great man have not been consigned simply to history books but have also been sewn into the fabric of our capital city.”
