Sinn Fein seek cross-party support for Further Education Lecturers
Speaking ahead of tomorrow's Assembly debate, sponsored by a motion from Mr. Butler, he said:
"The lecturer's dispute over pay parity has been going on for seven years. This is disgraceful.
"There is now an opportunity to settle the dispute once and for all. I believe if all MLAs support the lecturers in tomorrow's debate then the matter will be treated urgently by the Executive.
"Over the last few weeks I have been in contact with the lecturer's union and with the other political parties.
"I sought support for the motion I tabled for tomorrow's debate.
"I secured support from the unions.
"However the UUP and DUP decided to back a UUP amendment.
"The amendment was unnecessary but support for it does not undermine support for the lecturers. "
