Maskey backs call for increased funding for Police Ombudsman's office

19 July, 2007

Speaking following the release of Nuala O'Loan's final report, Sinn Féin Policing and Justice spokesperson Alex Maskey reiterated the call for increased funding for the new Police ombudsman.

"The police must be held accountable and investigations of past wrong doings must have adequate funding. The Ombudsmans Office is an avenue where families and victims of collusion have used in the past to seek the truth into police involvement in murder.

"Sinn Féin have repeatedly called for increased funding for the necessary work of probing past police involvement in murder." Ends
