Polish Cultural Week
Sinn Féin Waterside Councillor Lynn Fleming has welcomed a week long serious of events to mark Polish Cultural Week in the North.
Polish Cultural week took place from July 23rd July -29th July
Councillor Fleming said:
"The Polish community here in recent years has become more established with an estimated 35,000 living in the North and is playing a vital role in our society. The fact that a Polish Cultural Week is taking place in the North is to be widely celebrated and sends out a great signal to other ethnic groups that they have a place in our society and are to be welcomed here.
"Ireland is known throughout the world as a place of welcome. We have a famous phase Céad Míle Fáilte and this has to be more than a tourist cliché. Our welcome is more than honeyed words. It is an invitation to share with us. To share our community, to share experiences and to learn from each other. We must all examine how we make all communities welcome here and what can we do to share our experiences, history ,and how can we learn from with ethnic minorities.
"I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Polish community well and for every success." ENDS
