Deputy First Minister believes in children
Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MP today attended the launch of 'Believe in Children', a major new Barnardo's initiative.
The 'Believe in Children' campaign hopes to challenge the preconceptions society has of vulnerable children and young people by inspiring the public to believe that the best can be brought out in any child.
Speaking at the campaign launch the deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MP, MLA said: "Since beginning their work in Northern Ireland over 108 years ago Barnardo's has made an enormous contribution to helping our most vulnerable children transform their lives.
"This campaign is a reflection of Barnardo's continued determination to stick by all children and young people referred to them."
The deputy First Minister continued: "The Executive will, like Barnardo's, also being doing its best to ensure that the needs of children and young people are fulfilled, whatever their background.
"It was recently announced that junior Ministers will be responsible for children and young people's issues and that they will oversee the implementation of our ten year strategy for children and young people." ENDS
