MRSA threat to Erne Hospital

Sinn Féin Fermanagh South Tyrone MLA Gerry McHugh speaking after a ward at the Erne Hospital in Enniskillen was closed to admissions because 10 patients were diagnosed with MRSA.

Mr McHugh said:

"The problems with hospital inquired infection are not going tot go away. This is a recurring problem.

"The regimes in the hospital must be strong enough to tackle this, not just for the day-to-day running of the hospital but to look to the future so that we can say that this is a thing of the past.

"We need understand why there has been no progress in tackling the problem and a focused programme put in place to eradicate this problem." ENDS
