Sinn Féin to hold public Woodside Forest rally

Sinn Féin West Belfast MLA Jennifer McCann has said that Sinn Fein are organizing a public rally to reclaim a West Belfast beauty spot after yet another brutal attack in the Woodside Forest.

So far Woodside Forest has been the scene of two rapes and a serious of assaults and muggings

The Rally will be held at 7pm on Friday, August 18th at the Woodside Forest in West Belfast.

Jennifer McCann will also meet with the Department of Social Development and Housing Executive officials tomorrow morning as part of the campaign to ensure that all the organisations responsible for the forest take steps to make it safe, including the be re-landscaping of the area so that people cannot use the cover of the forest to carry out vicious crimes.

Speaking today Ms McCann said:

"It is essential that our communities are encouraged and supported in reclaiming our streets, parks and public spaces. Together we can begin to make our society safer.

"It is also essential that all of the government agencies and departments, including the PSNI play their full role. As political representatives it is our responsibility to hold all of these agencies accountable and ensure that they meet their responsibilities in full." ENDS
