Deep shock that 256 jobs to be lost in Drogheda - Morgan

29 August, 2007

Louth Sinn Féin TD Arthur Morgan has expressed his shock at news that
256 jobs are to be lost in Drogheda when the Coca-Cola plant is to close
in 2008. Deputy Morgan, the party’s Workers’ Rights Spokesperson said
the loss of such an amount of jobs will be a huge blow to the town.

He said, “There is a deep sense of shock around Drogheda this evening
with the news that 256 jobs are to be lost when the Coca-Cola plant
closes nest year. The loss of such an amount of jobs will be a huge
blow to the town.

“I would call on the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment
Mícheál Martin to announce what plans he has, if any, to replace these
jobs and I would call on the company to ensure a fair redundancy package
for all those workers who will be let go.” ENDS
