Assembly PAC Committee to look at Road Safety
Sinn Féin MLA, John O'Dowd who is Chairperson of the Assembly PAC Committee has welcomed the NIAO Report which examines the progress made in the Road Safety Strategy (published 2002) and said that the commitee will be taking evidence to look at how to reduce deaths on our roads in the next two weeks.
The Upper Bann Assembly Member said:
"This is an issue which was also dealt with by the previous Assembly Committee in July 2000. Given the importance of the issue of Road Safety I am encouraged that the Committee will be holding an Evidence Session in the next two weeks.
"I look forward to the Evidence Session where the Committee will be able to pursue each of the issues raised. I believe that there is still room for improvement as I am sure everyone would agree that one death on our roads is one too many." ENDS
