Planning Policy left in chaos by direct rule ministers
Sinn Féin Spokesperson on planning Cathal Boylan MLA speaking after the initial judgement in the PPS14 judicial review initiated by colleagues on Omagh Council has said that what has been clearly exposed is the shambles left by British direct rule minister who lurched from one bad policy decision to the next.
Mr Boylan said:
"What the ruling today does is expose the mess that has been created by the arbitrary approach of British direct rule ministers who lurched from one bad policy to the next.
"Rather than develop a coherent policy framework that found the right balance between supporting sustainable rural living and the protection of our countryside Jeff Rooker, in particular, came up with a blunt instrument in PPS 14 had little support and would have been a hammer blow for many people living in our rural communities.
"What we now need to see is the space for the Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy working with Executive colleagues including Arlene Foster and Michelle Gildernew to deliver a solution that is sustainable in the long-term." ENDS
