Sinn Féin - On Your Side

A Fair Recovery Is Possible

Sinn Féin has launched a state wide campaign for a Fair Recovery. The campaign will involve a series of public meetings and the distribution of close to one million leaflets door to door.

The coming election will be about who can deliver a fair recovery for all our citizens.

At present we have parties that imposed austerity, punished those most in need and are now claiming a one sided and unfair recovery.

There is no difference in policy between Fine Gael, Fianna Fail and Labour. They will not deliver a fair recovery but more of the same old cronyism and clienteles.

Sinn Féin offers a republican vision of Ireland, deliverable policies for a fair recovery and a new form of politics.

We are asking citizens to make the change, to vote out for hope rather than out of fear.

The experience of the recent marriage equality referendum, in which many people with no previous experience of political activism, became actively involved in campaigning for equality, must be built upon in the coming months.

We need to seize upon that spirit of hope and active citizenship to build support for equality in other aspects of Irish life.

We need economic and social equality. That too must be fought for, campaigned for.

In the way that ordinary people convinced their neighbours, workmates and family members of the desirability and justice of equality for LGBT citizens, we must convince ever greater numbers of people of the desirability of economic equality.

In the coming months Sinn Féin will set out our manifesto and a range of detailed, costed policies.

This campaign is about setting out some of Sinn Féin’s priorities and to start a debate about the future, about what type of country and society we want to live in, about equality, and the type of recovery we want.

The type of country Sinn Féin wants to see is based on the right to:

  • Decent work for decent pay
  • Access to first class public services
  • Affordable childcare
  • Abolition of water charges and making the tax system fair
  • Addressing the housing crisis
  • Advancing the all-Ireland economy for all

There are big decisions facing the Irish people in the immediate period ahead and we need an honest, open, inclusive discussion.
