Pricewaterhouse Cooper behaviour towards Reids workers disrespectful
North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has welcomed the commitment from Economy Minister Nigel Dodds to act on a number of matters Reids Transport workers raised with him last night (Monday). Mr McKay who organised the meeting, said that there was no excuses for the administrator Pricewaterhouse Cooper refusing to meet with the Reids employees committee.
Mr McKay said:
"We secured a number of commitments from the Economy Minister last night and it is to be welcome that he is acting on this urgent matter.
"The administrators, Pricewaterhouse Cooper, have to date refused to meet with the workers' elected committee and the Minister has agreed to stress the unacceptability of this position to the administrators. He has also agreed to push the administrators to prioritise the most pressing issues for the workers such as back-pay, etc.
"Too often in cases like this, the administrators take a huge chunk of the assets for their costs and after the banks and other creditors take their share there is little left for the employees or indeed the sub-contractors, many of whom are owed thousands of pounds.
"It is high time that the administrators treated the employees with respect and entered into meaningful talks with their committee." ENDS
