Minister considered using 'planning condition' to remove existing Visitors Centre at Causeway
North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA, Daithí McKay has asked the Environment Minister Arlene Foster to explain what planning condition she was considering using to "secure the removal of the existing visitor centre buildings" at the Giants' Causeway.
Mr McKay uncovered this proposal after receiving papers under the Freedom of Information Act.
Mr McKay said:
"Papers released indicate that she thought that the process of engagement between the Council, National Trust and other interested parties "may help to determine whether a planning condition may be a feasible means of securing the removal of the existing vistor centre buildings".
"The Minister discussed this at a meeting on the 5th September and I have asked that she clarify what planning conditions she is considering using to secure the removal of the existing visitor centre and if she has made Moyle District Council and the National Trust aware of this." ENDS
