Paisley must disclose full extent of relationship with Property developer
North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has said that Junior Minister Ian Paisley Junior must disclose the full extent of his relationship with property developer Seymour Sweeney. Mr McKay who was the first to raise the matter of the North Antrim businessman's connections with the DUP in the Assembly in September, was speaking after it was revealed that both men are involved with a deal to buy 96 acres of government land at Ballee in Ballymena.
Mr McKay said:
"There is now mounting pressure on Ian Paisley Junior to disclose, in full, his relationship with property developer and party colleague Seymour Sweeney.
"He must outline what work he has been carrying out which involves Mr Sweeney and he needs to be totally transparent.
"When this matter was raised in September he should have then made public his involvement with this land acquisition proposal in Ballymena, especially given the fact that this land could now be sold by the Department for below market value.
"If Ian Paisley Junior really has nothing to hide then he should have nothing to fear from being totally transparent about his relationship with this developer.
"I think that the Minister for Social Development should make an immediate statement on this sale of land by her department and confirm if this land is now going to be sold for £25 million below market value." ENDS
