Aer Lingus decision 'political correctness gone mad'

13 December, 2007

Responding to the news that Aer Lingus shall not be using its usual Irish Language greeting on board Belfast flights, Sinn Féin Irish language spokesperson in the Assembly Francie Brolly has said that this is political correctness gone mad.

"This is a silly and illogical move.

"It is political correctness gone mad.

"The fact of the matter is that the Irish language is a threat to no-one and is the property of all the people on the island of Ireland.

"The St Andrews agreement provides safeguards for the Irish language and businesses should be reminded of this.

"Aer Lingus should know that multilingualism and multiculturalism should be championed rather than lambasted." Críoch
